The useful promise is specific: a native iPhone surface for coding-agent work that is already running through Herdr on your own Mac or Linux host. Drover for iPhone is in beta — join to get a TestFlight invite — and Drover for Mac and droverd for Linux are available too.

Drover can

  • Pair an iPhone with a per-user droverd daemon on your host, on the LAN or remotely.
  • Show the Herdr Host → Session → Workspace → Tab → Pane hierarchy.
  • Attach to an exact live pane and render its terminal on iPhone.
  • Show Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode permission requests as Sessions cards — Deny, Allow once, or Open. Nothing auto-approves, and Open just opens the pane.
  • Open a running agent in Chat — the engine's own record with one explicit Send, Stop, and Interrupt and send — or in the native terminal, your choice per device.
  • Carry supported input over an authenticated live connection.
  • Use a direct off-network path, with an end-to-end encrypted relay fallback where the network requires it — free on your first host, not a Pro feature.

Drover deliberately cannot

  • Bundle, install, or replace Herdr.
  • Upload your repository or proxy engine credentials.
  • Infer state or permission from terminal text.
  • Queue commands while offline or replay an uncertain action.
  • Offer approval cards for engines other than Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode — other supported engines get attention alerts and Chat without approvals, and the rest run as live terminal panes only.
  • Send an "always allow," a remembered approval, or a decision from a notification or the lock screen — nothing auto-approves.

Drover is free on one paired host: pairing, Sessions, Chat, Terminal, Workspaces, approvals, usage, and both LAN and relay are all free there, with your first 5 media uploads included. Drover Pro adds every host beyond the first, push notifications, the Live Activity, unlimited media uploads, and the Lock Screen and Home Screen usage widgets.
