Imagine starting a dependency upgrade before lunch. The agent spends twenty minutes running tests, then stops because one API choice needs your answer. A useful phone workflow lets you inspect the same live session, answer when the route is healthy, and return to the desk with context intact.

Start with the machine that owns the work

Open the session in Herdr on your Mac or Linux host. The repository, credentials, process, terminal, and agent login remain there. Drover pairs an iPhone with a small companion daemon beside Herdr, then presents the host's current Host → Session → Workspace → Tab → Pane hierarchy.

Use the phone for attention

When the run needs you, first read the live pane: did tests fail, is a prompt waiting, or did the process finish? If input is supported for that live pane, send one deliberate response and watch for the resulting state. If the connection is unavailable, the surface is read-only until it reconnects and resynchronizes.

A worked handoff

Before leaving, note the pane running the dependency upgrade and confirm that its tests are still active. From the phone, open that same pane, read the latest terminal result, and answer only the question shown by the live session. If the agent returns to running, leave it alone. If it exits, read the final output before deciding whether to start anything at the desk.

Keep the terminal in charge

The terminal remains the recoverable source of truth. Chat, where available later, is a projection of the user's existing harness session. It does not create a second engine session or decide what a terminal transcript means.

Before you walk away

  • Confirm the verified host identity.
  • Make sure Herdr and droverd are running as your user.
  • Open the intended pane and check its current state.
  • Assume a disconnected phone cannot safely submit input.
  • When you return, read the live state before sending another command.
